Josephine Kakande, Eng | Chief Technology Officer (CTO)


Eng Josephine is a dynamic researcher and academic with over a decade of experience in sustainable energy systems, energy policy, and microgrid integration. She currently serves as a Research Associate in Sustainable Energy Technology at Paderborn University in Germany, where her work focuses on energy policy, off-grid systems, and the grid integration of renewable energy technologies. Her research contributes to advancing scalable and resilient energy solutions, particularly for developing regions.

In addition to her research role, Eng Josephine has been a Lecturer at Makerere University in Uganda since 2011, where she teaches and supervises work in energy modelling, microgrids, and sustainable power systems. Her academic work bridges theory and application, mentoring future energy engineers and promoting practical innovations in energy access.


She previously served as a researcher with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in South Africa under the ARTIST Project, contributing to applied research on industrial and energy systems.


Eng Josephine is a PhD candidate in Sustainable Energy Technology at Paderborn University, Germany, and undertook a prestigious fellowship in Energy Technology, Scientific Computing, and Industrial Optimisation at the University of South-Eastern Norway.

With a strong foundation in technical innovation and policy, she is passionate about designing equitable, efficient, and climate-resilient energy systems. She has made significant contributions to the field of sustainable energy both in academia and in real-world applications.
